Public Health Order Extended for Sedwick County

Yesterday the Sedgwick County Health Officer, Dr. Gerald Minns, issued a new Emergency Public Health Order regarding the county requirements related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The new order became effective today, September 15 at 12:01 am and is in effect until at least October 21 at 11:59 pm.

The new order maintains all of the requirements regarding masks, social distancing, mass gatherings, and restrictions on bars, night clubs, and restaurants serving alcohol that were found in the September 3 order. Section III of the order has been revised to clarify that the order is mandatory. The new order states that “Individuals and organizations within Sedgwick County are required to comply with this Order”.

Sedgwick County reminds individuals and businesses that our community toolbox consists of mask-wearing, social distancing, and good hand hygiene, as the best ways for the community to continue to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Travel and tourism industry research also tells us that there remains opportunity for the travel industry to work together to improve safety perceptions around travel, inspiring confidence that travel can be done safely. The safety protocols in the order is one way to improve travelers’ perceptions.

The new Emergency Health Order can be found on the county website.
