When people visit your restaurant's social pages, what do they most want to see?

In our recent survey of over 400 Kansans, we asked:

"What topics/messages in social media posts from restaurants do you consider most valuable?"

This open ended question was answered in a variety of ways, but five main themes emerged:

   1. Deals

By far the most popular answer. Specific responses included coupons, ads, discounts, deals, daily and weekly specials, special menu items and special meal deals.

   2. Offerings and Costs

“The menu” and “menu items” were the most popular responses in this group, closely followed by “prices” and “cost.” Other basic information that respondents noted? Directions to the restaurant and the hours.

   3. Ingredients

Several respondents expressed interest in the “quality of food,” with smaller numbers seeking information about specific diets, including gluten free selections. This is in line with the national trend of more transparency about ingredients and preparation methods.

   4. Reviews
Both “customer reviews” and “critics reviews” were noted, along with “unbiased recommendations.”

   5. Photos
A number of participants noted that they wanted to see “pictures of the food” specifically, while other responses included photos of the menu board, pictures of menu items with prices, and photos of special menu items.
