Last night one of our deputies called in for an order after 8:00 PM, not knowing they were closed. Not only did they stay open late to provide a hot meal, but they insisted on giving the deputy his food.

Most importantly they expressed their gratitude and gave words of encouragement. Times are stressful for everyone right now, it's times like these that we step back and are reminded how lucky we are to have such a supportive community. Thank you to everyone who supports first responders everyday!

Together We Are Greater Than a Pandemic

Together We Are Greater Than a Pandemic: KRHA shares what Meddy's started to help our community and several other members stepped in to help.

Share ways you are helping your community during this difficult time by emailing your story to lgraham@krha.org

Friends, as you know we are facing uncertain times as there are as many unanswered questions as there are answered. But I believe this community can be a shining example for the world of how we unite at difficult times; yes, we always step-up and work together. While this will be challenging and certainly require sacrifice, we believe the most vulnerable members of our community deserve the best we can offer. Together we are greater than a Pandemic. Please join me in this worthy endeavor.

Remember, we are the greatest nation on this planet and that will never change.

We announced that we would be immediately shutting down our three restaurants so that we could begin devoting our time and resources to helping ensure that kids in our community continue to be well fed while school is not in session. Your responses and willingness to help have been overwhelming and inspiring. We are convinced, now more than ever, that we can pull through this together and demonstrate to the world what it looks like when neighbors care for neighbors.

What are we doing?

We have partnered with ICT S.O.S, a Kansas non-for-profit organization that has long been committed to Wichita and excellent programs that support the community. ICT S.O.S will serve as the “sponsor” of this program, which means they will be the organization that will accept community donations and contributions, and then distribute those resources to Meddys and other area restaurants so that we can utilize our kitchens to make healthy meals for those in need.

Why do we need a “sponsor?”

It is important that we partner with ICT S.O.S for two important reasons. First, it is a 501(c)(3) organization and a classified public charity, which means any donations made to this program are tax deductible. Second, we want to be completely transparent during this process and ensure everyone in the community that their donations are being used for exactly the reasons stated. With ICT S.O.S. on board, they will provide oversight and transparency throughout the process. Third, and most importantly, they are an excellent organization that has significant experience in coordinating efforts and resources for a specific purpose, just like this one. With their help, Meddys and other area restaurants will be able to coordinate efforts, resources, and facilities to feed as many people as possible.

How can you help?

ICT S.O.S. has created a GoFundMe page for this project, which we are calling “Together, We Are Greater Than A Pandemic!” You can go directly to the GoFundMe page, linked here, and donate any amount of your choosing. Every single dollar Meddys receives from this program will be used to prepare, cook, and provide healthy meals to those in need. We will not profit a single dollar while participating in this program. Donation checks can be mailed to ICT SOS 1211 S Emporia, Wichita, KS. 67211.
